Gearing up for Champions Trophy

Filed under: Cricket — Iceman @ 10:06 am

Men in Blue are high on confidence after winning the tri-series in Sri Lanka, thanks to their abysmal performance against the home team -  they had to chase down a mammoth total but ended up well short of it. Had they won the penultimate game against the hosts, they would have stood on top of the list but nothing of that sort happened. They had the opportunity to be the number one side in the world but they could hold on to it only for 24 hours. True, they played back to back games in the series and that could very well be one of the reasons why they put up such a dismal performance. Ultimately when it came to the finals, they made sure they didn’t falter again. The win should have boosted their confidence a great deal and moreover, they won it quite comprehensively. What time to clinch the series better than Champions Trophy  that’s less than a week away?

Nuptial woes

Marriage can be a burden. Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Yasmin Malik brought home his Pakistani bride for the first time after tying the knot across the border. In Delhi, on the way to Sri Nagar the newly wed couple were put up in a south Delhi hotel. For their trip to Sri Nagar, the LSE educated bride was dressed in a shimmery off white lehenga and a sleeveless choli. As they both waited for a cab to take them to the nearby airport, she preened in her finery - a Rajasthan kundan necklace being her priced possession. This is my choice, she gushed at her indulgent husband. The JKLF leader was however stumped when his bride got up to get into the cab and promptly handed him her handbag and her shawl to carry. Taken by surprise, Malik asked if he was expected to carry the things all the way to Sri Nagar, to which she replied - no, just till I get into the car with this heavy lehenga.
