To raise funds for flood victims in Karnataka villages, BS Yeddyurappa and his ministers went on a paadayatra in Bangalore. The paadayatra got nearly 1,000 crore as donation and corporate houses came forward to build houses for the victims. It also helped the government salvage its image, especially after criticism that it was late in responding to the situation. The opposition saw the paadayatra as a publicity stunt. Responding to this incident, the opposition leader VS Ugrappa asked why did some ministers and heads of the government organizations present cheques for flood relief when they could have done it in Vidhana Soudha?
