Bal Thackeray is in the news and for all the wrong reasons. Instead of felicitating Sachin Tendulkar who completed twenty glorious years in International Cricket yesterday, Bal Thackeray found joy only in criticizing the little master. He slammed Tendulkar for his ‘Mumbai is for all’ remark in an editorial piece published in party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ today. While the whole world feels it’s perfectly all right with the remark, the Shiv Shena chief thinks otherwise. People are of the view that Shiv Sena chief’s comments are total unnecessary and uncalled for. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has strongly reacted to the incident by slamming the chief back. BJP leader Arun Jaitley has also extended his support for Sachin Tendulkar saying the little master had said nothing wrong. This is not the first time the Thackerays are in the news for the wrong reasons. In 2008, the Shiv Sena’s nephew Raj Thackeray was involved in an unnecessary controversy for attacking the North Indians students who came to Maharashtra. If the chief’s nephew is uncivilized, can the chief’s own son be far behind? Bal Thackeray’s son Uddhav Thackeray drew flake for abusing the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2009. Bal Thackeray doesn’t feel all these longboard skateboards incidents are totally unacceptable. Controversies, one too many… Thackerays are making headlines by courting unnecessary controversies but how stupid of them to make it a habit!
