When Dhoni and his men amassed 642 runs on the scoreboard, one had to firmly believe that it was yet another run feast pitch. But as the days progressed it was quite evident that that was not the case, Sri Lanka’s abysmal batting performance in the first innings only asked them to follow on. They were given another opportunity to save the test match but the flurry of wickets even in second innings didn’t need India to bat again. Though the Indian openers contributed immensely in piling up the mammoth score, the full credit went to Sreesanth who set up the game for the home team after bowling a remarkable spell of 5/75 in the first innings. Despite being one down in the series, the Sri Lankan skipper has exuded confidence that they would come back strongly in the last and final test of this tour. Of course, the visiting side can level the series but that would require an exceptional performance from the inexperienced Sri Lankan players. Let’s wait and watch.
