Admirers say Congress leader K Karunakaran has an extraordinary zest for life. A couple of weeks back, the leader was admitted in a hospital due to a severe bout of pneumonia and doctors had predicted that the chances of the nonagenarian recovering from this respiratory illness were remote. But to everyone’s surprise he recuperated in less than a couple of days’ time and proved them all wrong. The first demand after regaining consciousness,  apart from the picture of Lord Krishna was a television set, small or big! India - Sri Lanka test match was going on and he wanted the television set installed right away in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) so that he didn’t miss out on any action!

Guys, are you planning to buy metal sheds anytime soon? Look no further than Asgard to get metal garden sheds. Just in case you are wondering why buy metal instead of wood is simply because of the fact they are rust proof - all the sheds are made from thick galvanized steel and this is the process where the steel is made weatherproof. If you would like to know more about the Asgard galvanized sheds coating process, you can check out their website. Talking about the pattern of metal sheds, they are designed to be self assembly. SM Krishna has finally managed to claim control of the website http://www.smkrishna.com/ after a decade’s wrangling with a Bangalore based industrialist. When he became the President of the Karnataka Congress, one of his associates desperately wanted to launch a website in his name. They were in for a big surprise when they found that a canny businessman had already got the domain smkrishna.com registered. SM Krishna who was the Chief Minister of Karnataka and also the late Governor of Maharashtra kept asking him to give up the domain but the businessman clung to the charming name though he hardly use it.

India draws first blood

Filed under: Cricket — Iceman @ 4:35 pm

When Dhoni and his men amassed 642 runs on the scoreboard, one had to firmly believe that it was yet another run feast pitch. But as the days progressed it was quite evident that that was not the case, Sri Lanka’s  abysmal batting performance in the first innings only asked them to follow on. They were given another opportunity to save the test match but the flurry of wickets even in second innings didn’t need India to bat again. Though the Indian openers contributed immensely in piling up the mammoth score, the full credit went to Sreesanth who set up the game for the home team after bowling a remarkable spell of 5/75 in the first innings. Despite being one down in the series, the Sri Lankan skipper has exuded confidence that they would come back strongly in the last and final test of this tour. Of course, the visiting side can level the series but that would require an exceptional performance from the inexperienced Sri Lankan players. Let’s wait and watch.

The 8000 tonnes of cell phone waste which is estimated to burden the earth by 2012 could be the most significant downside of the telecommunication boom. According to a study by global consultancy Deloitte, about 65 per cent of users in Asia, Europe, and the Americans replace their cell phones at least once in two years. This means every two years about 100 million cell phones reach landfills if they are not recycled or reused. When retired handsets ens up in landfill sites, toxic substances would seep into the groundwater. To minimize the growing cell phone waste, the report suggests recycling and refurbishing of used cell phones.
