18 month dream comes true

Filed under: Cricket — Iceman @ 7:58 am

When India drew the first test match against Sri Lanka, little did the home team know that they would clinch the series and eventually become the number one side in the test rankings. However, when they won the second test in an emphatic manner, they could envision their long time dream coming true. And when they posted a mammoth total on the scoreboard before bowling out the visitors for less than 400 runs, another emphatic victory was always on the cards. Dhoni and his men could have wrapped up the test match within four days but some resistance from the  Sri Lankan lower order batsmen extended the game till the final day. Nonetheless, Sri Lankans were outplayed by India in all departments of the game and full credit  for the home team for putting up clinical performances both with bat and ball. While the Indian skipper Dhoni was all praise for his team, his Sri Lankan counterpart also had to shower praises on this promising Indian team. He also had to confess that it was Virender Sehwag who made all the difference and who turned the game on its head.  True, the home team won matches on the trot in a comprehensive and convincing way but how long can they keep the title with them? One can hardly say that but time will tell, it definitely will. That said, let’s hope Dhoni and his men retain promotional pens forever!
