T20s not India’s forte

Filed under: Cricket — Iceman @ 5:00 am

It’s not long back that India won the test series convincingly and comprehensively against the Sri Lankans. High on confidence, they took on the runners-up of the recently concluded World T20 tournament a couple of days back and the result as expected was only disappointing. Going by the pitch conditions, 215 runs was chase-able under  the lights. Mammoth it may seem but with an excellent batting line up and a fantastic pitch to bat on, one could have expected a run feast from the Indian batsmen as well but they only flattered to deceive against a bowling attack that lacked consistency and variation. True they won the inaugural edition of the World T20 in South Africa in 2007 but since then their performances are quite abysmal and their records in T20s shows just that. Sri Lakans have drawn the first blood by clinching the opener, now it’s up to Dhoni and his men to play sensible cricket and level the series.  Meanwhile, India and Sri Lanka take on each other today for the second time in the series, and unlike the previous game let’s hope they put up  an intriguing encounter.
