Dream party

Filed under: Novels, Party Snacks, Uncategorized — Iceman @ 2:33 am

Guys, this is a post exclusively about my dream party. First of all let me start with the theme - wouldn’t carnival theme party be fantastic? Now do you remember spending summer days at the fair, eating corn dogs and cotton candy, while riding the Ferris wheel and merry-go-round? Well, I can recreate this youthful fun by hosting a carnival in  my own backyard. And believe it or not, this is not just for kids; a carnival is a great theme party for any milestone birthday or an end-of-summer, just-because bash. The theme is ready and who would I invite for the party? Well, almost all my near and dear ones. Where would I host the party? As I have mentioned earlier, there’s my spacious backyard. So why should I look for any other place? And regarding the food, I would serve all the toothsome delicacies. That’s all about my dream party. Hope I would host it soon. Now talking about the favorite party I have attended till now, there are quite a lot. But to choose one from them, it would be the one I attended a couple of months back at Eden’s Park. Memorable, I would say because it is worth remembering. Our Manager was leaving to the United States the next day, so she decided to give a party for all of us.We gorged ourselves on all the delicacies served there especially the chocolate and the black forest cake. We whiled away the time at the party and later in the evening, we all went for a movie. Needless to say we had immense fun at the party. That was my favorite!

Wooster, Bertam Wooster

Filed under: Novels — Iceman @ 3:17 am

If there’s one thing Bertie likes, it’s a quiet life. He’s not one of those fellows who get all restless and depressed if things aren’t happening all the time. You can’t make it all placid for him. All in all a very funny guy, this Wooster. Jeeves, the valet and Wooster, the master together are undoubtedly the funniest people on this earth.  When Bertie is in the soup, it’s Jeeves who comes to the rescue. Give Bertie regular meals, a good show with decent music every now and then, and one or two pals to totter round with, and he’ll ask no more. Wondering who this person is? Well, fact of the matter is he’s one of the protagonists of PG Wodehouse’s novels! That is Bertie Wooster exclusively for you.

P.G. Wodehouse is the author I revere the most

Filed under: Novels — Iceman @ 9:15 am

After a hiatus, I’m planning to read the novels written by PG Wodehouse again. Words can’t express how excited I feel when I get one of his books in my hand.  He makes me deliriously happy and no matter how many times I have read his novels, I will continue to read them and nothing is going to deter me from doing that. Not even the librarian who sneered at me when I took ‘Right Ho, Jeeves’ for the fifth time. I have been reading a lot of novels these days and as far as I’m concerned, no author has managed to fascinate me with their writing prowess. Frankly speaking, he’s far better than any author in this world. PG Wodehouse is a cut above the rest - no one can emulate him, he’s simply the best author I have ever come across in my life and there’s no doubt about that!

Bourne Indentity

Filed under: Novels — Iceman @ 11:42 pm

It has been a long time since I have read Robert Ludlum’s books. I didn’t like Aravind Adiga’s ‘The White Tiger’ at all. He might have got the ’08’s Man Booker prize award but it didn’t impress me at all. I have taken Robert Ludlum’s ‘The Bourne Indentity’. People say that he’s a prolific writer and that he earned critical acclaim especially for the Bourne series. It promises to be a good read. 500 odd pages, hope it doesn’t bore me.

The White Tiger

Filed under: Novels — Iceman @ 4:04 am

I took Aravind Adiga’s debut novel ‘The White Tiger’ this time. Instead of continuing Michael Palmer’s books, I went for this book mainly because it’s not that Palmer’s novels are so ho-hum and draggy, it’s only because of the simple fact that he uses quite a lot of medical terms - which is all greek and latin to me. Otherwise, he’s a fantastic author and has the ability to make the readers spell-bound by his writing. Coming to ‘The White Tiger’, it’s a small book and has around 300 odd pages. So I shouldn’t have a problem completing the book within a week’s time and moreover, it’s also thoroughly exciting, the readers say. By the way, you do know it won this year’s Man Booker prize, don’t you?

So far, so good

Filed under: Novels — Iceman @ 1:40 pm

Michael Palmer’s The First Patient is very entertaining. I have completed 200 odd pages and as far as I’m concerned, the author has done a pretty good job in making me engrossed. Tomorrow is the date to return the book and if I don’t complete it by tomorrow, I might have to renew the book. Provided the coming pages are exciting. Otherwise, I’ll have to go for another book tomorrow.

The First Patient

Filed under: Novels — Iceman @ 4:05 am

In my previous post, I deliberately failed to mention the name of the novel I’m reading now. It’s ‘The First Patient’. Completed 90 odd pages and I’m finding it very interesting! Michael Palmer is an M.D. by profession, so it’s no surprise why he has used umpteen medical terms in his novel. However, as long as they are entertaining, I seriously don’t have a problem with that. Meanwhile, in the ‘praises for the book’ column, former US President Bill Clinton claims that he found this thriller novel very exciting. He also goes on to add that he thoroughly enjoyed it. Whether it’s true or not, I’ll find out pretty soon.

Michael Palmer

Filed under: Novels — Iceman @ 3:14 pm

After quite a long time, I decided to pay a visit to the library! I always had Stephen King novels in my mind and I was very eager to read them. Unfortunately, I had to refrain from that thought and that was just because those novels written by him were mammoth and  felt I won’t be able to complete the book within a week’s time. So I asked the librarian to recommend me some books which could be completed probably in a week’s time. Without much hesitance, he handed over one of Michael Palmer’s novels. Yes, I had to settle for that because he promised me that it’s a rather good read. Haven’t heard of this author before and not much of information on the Internet either. Regardless of his reputation, I reckon he writes pretty well. Read 40 odd pages and he has managed to keep it gripping. Hope it goes well. By the way did I mention the book?
