I’m taking a backup anyway

Filed under: Uncategorized — Iceman @ 3:08 am

I have been writing a lot these days and it’s quite unfair if some of the entries disappear, isn’t it? First of all, it astounds me when these blog entries vanish. It’s also arduous to write the entry again and again. The server adminstrator of my blog’s hosting promised us that they are taking a backup of our accounts. So to be on the safer side I’m,  however, taking a backing up of all my entries anyway!

Men in Blue, don’t be complacent

Filed under: Uncategorized — Iceman @ 10:53 am

The Indian skipper MS Dhoni has warned his team not be complacent unless, until they have completely won the game. During the 1st ODI, the skipper was in a spot of bother when things started getting close. West Indies were 7 down but stood a good chance of chasing down that mammoth total of 339 but luckily, that didn’t happen - they fell short of 20 runs in the end.

Board exams to be scrapped?

Filed under: Say what?, Uncategorized — Iceman @ 5:24 pm

When I was in high school, I had to write 10th and 12th board exams. To get a seat in a good college, one had to concentrate on both the board exam and the entrance exam. A couple of years back, there was a change where board exams were to only hurdle. But look at what has happened today. The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Kapil Sibal, is considering doing away with the Class X board examinations. He has hinted at scrapping the board exams - and that’s mainly because he considers these board exams as a source of trauma for students as well as parents. Revamping the education system, actually? Well, let’s see!

‘THE WEEK’ that wasn’t

Filed under: Internet, Movie, Say what?, Uncategorized — Iceman @ 4:07 am

I’m a regular reader of the weekly magazine ‘THE WEEK’ for quite some time now and let me tell you that I’m more than pleased with most of the articles especially the regulars viz., ‘LAST WORD’ and the columns written by Neeru Bhatia on Cricket. However, I hate the way Shobhaa De writes her articles on the column  ‘THE SEXES’. She rants and raves as if she is the most  knowledgeable woman on earth but the truth is she’s not - all she knows is how to criticize,  and nothing else. After the weekend, I’ll be all agog to read the magazine but after reading  her column,  particularly, I wonder why I even  read it. I have also wondered if I could have done something worthwhile instead. Hopefully, I should make it a point to disregard her columns next time when I get a copy of ‘THE WEEK’ so that I don’t regret about it later. In the meantime, there’s something funny about her which I would like to share. When Shobha Dee started her own blog, she wanted to spread the word about it to the entire world. Guess how she did that,  towards the  end  of every article, she used to insert her blog’s URL  and this is how it appeared - www.shobhaade@blogspot.com  - preposterous, blogspot started giving free email IDs since when? I don’t know if that was her idea but I found that completely ridiculous! Typographical error or a novice blogger’s early days?

Chennai Super Kings

Filed under: Uncategorized — Iceman @ 3:44 am

Prior to the tournament, everyone were under the impression that Chennai Super Kings were the best team in the first season. With the likes of Hayden, Hussey, Morkel, Oram, and a couple of others, they were clearly the favorites and you couldn’t have asked for a better team. Now with the inclusion of Flintoff, they are looking even more formidable. Having said that, the team can’t always rely on him because after a couple of weeks’ time, he won’t be available. Micheal Hussey who played a huge role in the first season has promised that he will be back in the team if they reach the semi-finals. Let us hope CSKs reach the semi-finals even this time and let us hope Hussye joins the team as well.
