ICE Incident News Map — how reports are collected, summarized, and mapped.

Collection

  1. We ingest public RSS feeds and news sources on a regular schedule.
  2. We extract headlines, summaries, and publication timestamps.
  3. We look for place names or facility mentions in each report.

Mapping

  1. Locations are resolved to approximate coordinates via a lookup table.
  2. When a place is ambiguous, we fall back to a general location marker.
  3. Points within a small radius are grouped to reduce visual clutter.

Time windows

The map offers predefined windows (3 days, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months) and an all-time view. Filters are based on the reported publication time.

This project maps media reporting, not verified on-the-ground confirmation. Always cross-check with original sources.
